" . ; Every defendant in the mivnr'i court vesterdav morn inir was brought there bv old booze, , the' charge against all being drunkenness in . some de gree, this being ' coupled . in mnct cases with rlisnrderlv con duct.' When Mayor Armstrong called tne court to order tne court room waa. pretty well filled with spectators and th prisoner's -bar bad about all i could hold. The man whA tilrtia drink once in - - . - a while when some friend offers it to him raayv.be doing wrong but the man who sits down when he is cool and : sober and delib erately sends off order for whiskey is doing - worse and he knows it. It would r be better, be said, to throw the money in the fire..'- .' In this connection he told of an '.incident that'' happened recently : at the postomce. A man came in after the- stamp window was closed and was very anxious to get a letter mailed. He asked several by. standers for a stamp, and the onlv man in the crowd who could accom modate him . was a minister. The preacher hand ed him a stamp and the man nroceeded to Dlace it on an n- vplnnc which was addressed in big type to a well-known mail order whiskey bouse. "Here," sairl the nrearher. "von can't send my stamp after whiskey." He but ton noted tne man and talked to him a few moments, after which the man deliberately torej up the envelope, money order and ali and' threw the frapments on the floor. ; It's bad to throw away money, but it was better spent that way than if it had eone and brought the whiskey back. The entire crowd listened witn close attention to all tbemayor had to say and it is more than likely that what, he bad to say will have an influence for good nn those woo are temmea 10 send off and get mean booze. A Well Known Authority Gives ; Directions to Prepare Simple, Yet Bemirksble Homi Mixture. A well-know n authority on Rheumatism gives the readers of a large New York daily paper the following valuable, yet simple and- harmless prescrip tion, which anyone can easily prepare at home: V ' Fiuid Extract Dtndelion, one half ounce; Compound Kargon, one ounce; ' Compound Syrup Sirsparilla, three -ounces." 'Mix by shaking wkll in i botil and take a teaspoonful after eacli n al and at bedtime. He states that the ingredients can be obtained from . any good prescription pharmacy at small cost, and, being- of vegetable extraction, are harmless to take. This pleasant ; mixture, il taken regulaily for a few days, is said to overcome almost onv case of Rheumatisnu The pain and swelling, if any, diminishes with each dose, nntil permanent results are obtained, and with out injuring the ' stomach. While there are many so called Rheumatism remedies, patent medicines, etc , some of which do give relief, few really give permanent results, and the above will, no doubt, be greatly appreciated by many sufferers here at this time. ' Inquiry at the drug stores of this neighborhood elicits the in formation that these drugs are harmless "and can be bought separately, or the druggists here will mix the prescription for our readers if asked to.
